You Can Trust Reality

If you trust God, you trust reality. If you trust reality, you are trusting God. An experience of form is not the experience of the full reality of God, but physical reality does not occur apart from God. All occurs within the One, and in accordance with the divine laws of the One. Since those divine laws arise from unconditional love and unfathomable wisdom, all of our experiences ultimately take place within and for the purposes of unconditional love and unfathomable wisdom!

Our reality system is one in which experiences of tremendous difficulty are possible. From this side of the veil, beset by so many difficulties and even burdened by the requirements of physical survival itself, we tend to see reality as an adversary to strive against. We “fight to survive” in many ways every day. But what we are truly working to overcome is the difficulty we perceive from our relationship with the content of the present moment; what we are truly striving against is our own imperfection.

Our rigorous universe with its high potential for challenge has been established purposefully. It has been established so that we may expand the very nature of Being. It has been established so that we may more deeply understand and apply the power of our own beliefs and interpretations. It has been established so that we may truly learn what it means to grow in love and compassion, even in this rich context.

No matter what happens, no matter how much pain you may be in or how dire the world may seem, your experience does not escape the bounds of God’s perfect love and wisdom. Even if you rage in response, you are loved. Even if you denounce the world as terrible and unjust, the divine laws of God work to fulfill plans of love and joy that are far beyond our comprehension!

And we can trust those plans. We can trust the love and wisdom of God!

Reality is not your enemy. Your only enemy is your own fear, and your own resistance. Your obstacle is your own unwillingness to fully find and then meet your reality for exactly what it is any given moment, beneath the story. That is not easy- our own imperfection is vast, our fears are many, our wounds are deep- and our stories and identities protect us. But our reality is here for us so that we have the real opportunity to resolve that imperfection, to face those fears, to heal those wounds! And when we are genuinely ready to do that, when we trust reality enough to really take ownership for our experience and surrender to the fullness of the present moment, the spirit can then flow through us and once again reveal the truth of the ever present love and joy that is the enduring foundation of even our existence.

You Can Trust Reality

You Are Free to Choose Your Beliefs

You are completely free to choose what to believe. The only way this can seem untrue is if you believe it is untrue.

Your beliefs act as a filter through which you experience reality. Our physical reality is a place where you are able to buy into some set of ideas, including ideas about yourself and the world, and then experience exactly what it is like to have that perspective.

Does that mean there is no absolute truth? No. Absolute truth exists within Beingness, but Beingness transcends all form (all “this and not that” distinctions as we perceive them). That which we call God is the living conscious source of “big picture” Truth. But God is not a “thing,” like one thing among many, but rather God is in fact beyond all form and gives rise to it all. Beingness is not beholden to perceived objects or ideas, which exist only because of Beingness and within Beingness- so no objects or ideas can fully speak to What Is Happening.

Meanwhile as our consciousness is engaged in a form-based reality like ours, of course we use form to understand and engage this physical experience. Our reality experience takes place within a consistent rule-set (the physical rule-set), and within a rigorous context, so we intently look to that context for answers. In other words, we understand and engage our experience through the ideas, objects, symbols, sights, sounds, and all the other many forms of our physical lives. That is good and natural, and the divine can and does work through those forms to engage with us. But ultimately, “big picture” Truth is beyond naming. There is no way to even attempt to utter the depths and vastness of “big picture” Truth with physical language. As we strive in vain to do so, we might say that the truth is: absolute and total love, limitlessness, and transcendent Beingness!

And that is what you really are.

As transcendent Beingness yourself, you are absolutely free then to decide how you will frame this reality experience you are having. You have that power. If you don’t believe you have that power, it is because you bought into that belief. Perhaps you have done so long ago in Earthly childhood. But the power is still yours. You cannot not be what you really are. Your true being transcends the forms of your life- and thus, you always get to choose how you will interpret and what you will believe about those forms.

You Are Free to Choose Your Beliefs

You Are Worthy

YOU are worthy of love! You are not only worthy of it, it is native to what you truly are! You- specifically you– are cherished, adored, and celebrated! And, despite what you may believe or what you may think about yourself, you are deserving of that love!

Religious ideology often teaches that we must earn God’s favor or acceptance (“God” by whatever term) through action or belief. This is untrue. Unconditional love is just that: unconditional. But God’s love is not just unconditional in a general way, God is unconditionally loving even with full knowledge of all your personal failings and imperfections. Imagine the depths of love necessary to completely and fully love you even as you perform your darkest act- and only then would you even begin to just barely touch understanding the fullness of God’s love.

No matter what you have suffered, what you have endured, or what you have done- you personally are loved, cherished, adored, celebrated, and upheld. You are celebrated for being you!

Allow yourself to feel this, right now! Let go of all your self-judgments, all your pre-conceptions, all your stresses- and feel it, deep down within you. Let go, and allow yourself to feel and remember that you are profoundly, deeply loved! Though the human journey is long and filled with the obfuscation of physical life, your deepest being remembers. Your deepest being yearns for the love that you have never lost. Can you feel it, even if but as a precious glimmer?

When we know this about ourselves, when we know with confidence that we are loved and celebrated- really know it- how much better can we then express love in our world? How much better can we shine the light to each other when we know that the Source of all Life completely loves us, personally?

For indeed often as we seem to get lost in the fog of circumstance, it is by shining our light that the other person may remember the love that exists for them! It is by our kindness and compassion that the other person may be reminded of THE kindness and compassion that never ceases. We have the profound honor of having the opportunity to shine the light of love to each other in a place where we seem to have forgotten it. Many millions of beings yearn for this opportunity- you and I have it today.

So remember today, this very day, that you are worthy of the love of the Source of all Creation- and as you do so, shine it to those around you! Remind them that they, too, are worthy, no matter how messy life may seem! For as you shine the light of love to others and remind them of who they really are, you help facilitate the great plan of bringing the foundational Love of Being into this reality.

The Spiritual Message of Empowerment

The spiritual message is one of empowerment. This is because powerlessness is just a non-fundamental experience, while freedom and power are the enduring truths.

Spirituality is about moving towards what actually is. Since freedom and power are our true inalienable nature, true spirituality naturally moves towards them. But because we have fear, we resist our experience in a myriad of ways. We use our ideas and our will to set up many boundaries and to block our own experience. We even use ideas about spirituality to do this. We (seem to) lose the powerful truth as we assign it to the powerless form.

Can life itself be repressed? It can choose to express itself through a great variety of conditions and within a great variety of constraints, and those conditions and constraints can change, but life itself is totally free. Spirituality is about that true nature of life, about allowing it, and knowing it, and becoming it- not just about the nature of the forms or constraints that life expresses through. Spirit transcends form.

Thus no form can truly convey the message. And yet, as life seeks to express itself through its creations, it can strive to reflect its ineffable and inalienable qualities through them. Those qualities, among many others, are ultimate love, joy, peace, power, and freedom! And thus, the spiritual message is one of ultimate love, joy, peace, power, and freedom!

Goodness Can’t Help but Win

No matter what happens, life ends up using it for the good. There is no loss that is not eventually followed by the victory of life which becomes more through that loss. No matter the loss, failure, or destruction, there is always some good that comes into being afterward as a result. This is the nature of permanent life versus impermanent change.

Everything that happens within Beingness occurs for Beingness’ sake. There is no circumstance that can overcome Beingness, nor escape use in its evolution.

So while the churning of changing circumstance may seem to burn us, we can never be lost, and we can never truly fail. This means that we do not ever have to surrender to the feeling of defeat.

We Will Get There

Near Death Experiencers often describe that they sense everything being in perfect order. One may ask, how can this be, given all the apparent destruction and suffering in the world?

“Everything being in perfect order” does not mean that we are expressing love in the most optimal way, yet. We knowingly came into a very difficult constraint-set (the physical universe) to refine our ability to make love-based (rather than fear-based) choices within a challenging environment. We have a long way to go: each of us still often make choices based out of fear rather than love. But, because of the “divine law” that Source has in place, whether quickly or slowly (depending on our choices), we will get there. The process is unfolding successfully! But it’s a real system- real beings are making real free will choices- and that can get “apparently messy.” That messiness is a price that we were all willing to pay to participate in such an amazing endeavor of creative expansion!

To put it in religious terms: God’s plan cannot fail. We all choose every day how readily we will work with it, or not- but it cannot fail. The spiritual systems that are in place do, over time, encourage each of us to actually grow up towards love, to integrate our fears, and to fully express ourselves in a huge variety of conditions. As we do that, the plan of God is fulfilled. And, despite how circumstances may appear on the surface, we are doing that right now!

So take heart, have hope, and be encouraged! There is great opportunity and power in any given moment to choose love and compassion, even in the simplest of ways. As you do so, as a part of the One yourself, you actually facilitate the successful fulfillment of the great plan for this universe!

Loving Intent Transcends All Axes

Our walk in the physical is a journey of experiential growth. A fundamental part of that growth is improving what Tom Campbell calls our “quality of intent”: that is, evolving our deepest “why” towards love, and past fear. This movement does not occur on one axis. We are multidimensional beings, so our expansion towards love is also multidimensional.

Yet since all we remember is our experience in a universe of duality, as we explore how best to respond to questions of spirituality or morality, we sometimes assume that we should be “moving in one direction and not the other.” We sometimes imagine that there is one “axis” for any given spiritual or moral choice, and as spiritual people, we wonder if we should be moving in “one direction” along that axis. As just a few possible examples, we ask: should we always be peaceful, or is it sometimes acceptable to harm others? Should we strive and exert will to accomplish things, or relinquish effort and surrender? Should we always give when another has need, or cut them off if we feel it is best for them? We might even include: should we believe in religious teachings, or let them go?

In all these deliberations, the paramount question we should be asking ourselves is: why are we making the choice that we are? Are we truly motivated by the best interest of the other and of the whole, or are we actually motivated to protect or serve ourselves?

As we genuinely explore that question, we find that even in love, different circumstances may demand different answers.

It may be meaningful then to recognize that as we refine the quality of our intent towards love, when it comes to making spiritual or moral choices, there are two important ways that we spiritually grow:

The first is that we grow strong in being able to perform in any given direction. Put another way: we strengthen a given virtue. We see “how far” and “how deep” we can go in making any given choice, even when the circumstance is difficult. So in response to the above examples: we learn how to be peaceful, even in the face of conflict; and we learn how to be courageous and to intervene when necessary, even in the face of danger. We learn how to strive and exert great effort; and we learn how to release control and surrender. We learn how to be selfless and give all that we can, even at the expense of the self; and we learn when and how to refuse. We learn when and how deeply to put our faith in the ideas of our world; and when to go one’s own way. Any one of these or many thousands of other aspects of experiential learning can be its own lesson: sometimes we can spend an entire lifetime or more just “learning” one type of strength. But each of these qualities, and a great many more, have their meaningful place in consciousness-based Creation.

The second is that we refine our ability to best discern which choice- which “force”- to employ in any given circumstance. We grow in wisdom. As we learn from our experiences and repeatedly live the results of our own intentions, we experientially develop discernment which is unobscured by ego. We develop clarity of awareness when appraising both external and internal environments such that we can appropriately identify and acknowledge what will best serve the whole. We grow in our ability to make the best choice for the betterment of the other, and we refine our ability to identify and select that choice even when the circumstances are complex and even when the personal costs may be great.

Both of these types of growth are precious to the spirit! The spirit seeks to mightily develop both as it journeys through lifetimes.

Both of these types of growth contribute towards the expansion of Love! Love is not on one axis- it encompasses them all! Love encompasses many virtues: peace, and bravery; will, and release; charity, and discipline; faith, and self-reliance; rest, and service; self-love, and love for others; confidence, and humility; prudence, and sacrifice; and many, many more.

In truth, the two listed above are not separate, and these dualistic ideas are very crude representations of the complex evolution of intent. But for us rooted in duality, it can be helpful to recognize that there is not one teaching or behavior that can fully communicate what it means to grow spiritually. Rather, each of us should do our best to meet our experience fully, genuinely, and selflessly, wherever we are, without necessarily leaning on a given belief or axis. This open approach helps us to use the human experience for all it is meant to be and facilitates growth towards love in all the many ways possible.
